Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.

1 Peter 4:10

The idea of Christian Stewardship comes from acknowledging God as Creator and Owner of everything. God’s stewards faithfully return what belongs to God and live a God-centered life understanding that everything we have in this life – our material possessions, time, talents, and opportunities, are to be used to bring glory to God and to expand His Kingdom.

It is the mission of the Stewardship Department to foster Christian Stewardship among the members of the Illinois Conference.

The Russian invasion on Ukraine has created the greatest refugee crisis in Europe since WWII. Since the beginning of the war, more than 3 million people, mostly mothers with children, crossed the border to neighboring countries of Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania, and Moldova. According to United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), as of March 19, 2022, over 2 million of the refugees were accepted in Poland.

The small SDA Church in Poland (less than 6,000 members from 38 million of the Polish population) is working tirelessly to use this important opportunity to minister to people in need. Cars and busses transport food to Ukraine and bring refugees with them on their way back. Those who have been displaced find temporary shelters in our churches, schools, retreat centers, and private homes. Volunteers are helping to find permanent housing and work. Other groups that are in cooperation with pastors from Eastern Ukraine started a project to bring people that are stranded and without means of transportation to Poland. Almost every day, church members take the initiative to find new ways to save as many lives as possible.

In order to support the efforts of our brethren in the Polish Union, the Illinois Conference is providing the opportunity to our members to donate a tax-deductible gift using the Adventist Giving online platform. 100% of donations declared as “Ukraine – Poland” in section “Conference/Union” will be transferred to the Polish Union for support of their humanitarian efforts.

Thank you for your generosity!

For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in,” Matthew 25:35
