Elder Delmar Austin comes to us from the Wisconsin Conference of Seventh-day Adventists where he has served most recently as the senior pastor of the Green Bay Seventh-day Adventist Church. Elder Austin is now the new Ministerial Director of the Illinois Conference of Seventh-day Adventists. As such, he has responsibility for the training and placement of pastors in this conference. He also is the director of evangelism and church ministries.

Elder Austin is moving here from Green Bay, Wisconsin with his wife, Marcia. Elder Austin brings a rich and varied experience to his leadership role in our conference. He has served as a pastor for 31 years. In this role, he has mentored other pastors (seminary students and intern pastors) and he has helped to train lay leadership for ministry. Elder Austin has served as a pastor in Nebraska, Michigan, and Wisconsin (and also served as a student missionary in Hong Kong). He has experience in multi-pastor churches and in multi-church pastoral districts.

Elder Austin is responding to what he senses as a clear call to ministry in this new capacity. He comes to our Conference with very specific, needed insights and experience, as well as plans to help empower pastors and lay leaders.

Marcia Austin is a social worker with a varied experience in Hospice, nursing homes, counseling, and other forms of social work. Together, the Austins have two grown children who are currently in college. We look forward to the blessing of their ministry in the state of Illinois.
