In His master plan, "the Lord has appointed the youth to be His helping hand ."—Testimonies, vol. 7, p. 64. With this instruction and others, the Illinois Conference has established a youth ministry that will:

  • lead youth to understand their individual worth and discover and develop their spiritual gifts and abilities,
  • equip and empower youth for a life of service within Christ's church and the community, and
  • ensure the integration of youth into all aspects of church life and leadership.

These goals are achieved by incorporating the biblical dynamics of outreach, fellowship, nurture, worship, and mission. Opportunities for youth to come together to realize their value and learn useful skills to express their God-given gifts are offered during retreats and mission projects held each year.

The following programs are an integral part of youth ministry in Illinois:

  • Summer Camp Ministry at Camp Akita

  • Adventurers- for all families of children in grades 1-4 who agree to keep the Adventurer Pledge and Law.

  • Pathfinders - Three phases of ministry:  junior, teen, and leadership training for young people grades 5-10.  Regular club activities include progressive class work, honors; camping; nature, and recreational activities; marching and drilling; field trips; fund-raising projects; community service; and evangelistic outreach.
